Sound Dissection
The use of staticky weather reflects the use or muddy green and grey colours used to create a semi-hostile environment. the silence of the men accept for their movements juxtaposes the constant noises coming from the dog and the ball when bounced. Creating the sense to the viewer that the two main focuses of this short to begin with are the ball and dog. So when the sound of the ball and dog suddenly stop you realise that the change in atmosphere is about to begin and the context of the short is about to change. The fact that the music to show the aliens have arrived is more electronic and manufactured compared to the use of only environmental noises and the noises of the men moving implicates a sense of out of placeness which would cause the listener a sense of wariness towards this new sound. When the sound of the gun, louder than any other sound so far in the shot is released it creates a sense of shock and feels extremely out of place, however by them doing this it mimics alien itself, it's sounds are out of place in this environment and the killing of the dog is sudden and without remorse much like the music accompanying it. The change back to the pace and level of music afterwards really cements the concept that the alien neither understands the kind of situation they have just now created nor the implications linked to their actions.
This Kind of disembodied narration is something I really like as a method of mixing music and sound together, in away that can be either informative as in this case or atmospheric. You feel partially like Goofy in this as you are both put into the same scenario of having to listen to a voice you cant see.

Gustav Klimt

- The silhouettes of the Klimts figures are created with and strong sense of shape to them the use of posture and pose creates an illusion of angularity of the women within the images however they themselves tend to be a lot more curvaceous in figure.
- Klimts work makes me think a lot about frame and positioning within my work. Especially author work and how I pose and compose figures within it. What do I want the images composition to say about the image as a whole? I've been focusing a lot on colour symbolism and motifs when generating idea however now that I am coming along the refinement route my focus needs to be more on composition and frame.

After Effects Workshop
![]() |
Any individual piece you want to animate needs its own layer
|
![]() |
Importing as footage idea is o merge or I can choose an individual layer
|
![]() |
| How it will be viewed ignore the folder double click on the composition |
![]() |
| When you import an photoshop multiple layer as a composition go to composition settings, choose the preset make sure its all ok. |
![]() |
| When preset happens it snips the image down, loose the length of the image |
![]() |
| Using just composition means everything focuses around the same anchor point cropping all the stars together. |
![]() |
| Composition retained layers each layer has their own anchor point |
Save your original images as well as the project you're doing or you will loose the image within your animation.
![]() |
| If you want to animate with the rough and replace it with the finished image but retain the animation do this. |
Organise your files.

| To hide or reveal layers called master switch |

After Effects Animation -Examples
Season's Greetings from Mummu on Vimeo.
EQUATEUR // THE LAVA // PART I from Kadavre Exquis on Vimeo.
- Both these animations are primarily shape based
- The first video repeats the previous scene as it advances meaning you can create a lengthy film without having to create a lots of original key frames.
- The second image is more complex but has scenes where it repeats the same animated ship with a change in background to create new imagery.
- The second one is a too complex for anything that I can create.
- But the idea of using key colour swatches to change atmosphere is something I'd like to incorporate/ pick up from it.
- The first Videos use of texture to create movement and the almost seamless transition/meding of one image into another is something i'd be very interested in using in my own sting.

OUIL504 - After Effects
- Every project must contain at least 1 composition
- All compositions can have the same assets, e.g. audio
- Means less files to manage.
- Shapes using solid layers to animate
In Composition/ Layers
Press the layer +
P = Position
A= Ancor point
R = Rotation
S = Scale
T = Opacity
U= All of the animated properties I've changed
For two properties and shift
e.g.
P + Shift+ A = Anchor and Position
In time
O - I Move the ruler to end/ beginning point of a layer
Use Ram Preview for Accurate frame rate
Work area bare allows for selection of where to start
B- Mover work area to where your time maker is
N- sets the end of work area

Zine, Concept and development
- Over the summer I went to my brothers Nigerian Engagement Ceremony.
- Although I did other things this event stood out the most.
- Mainly because It was the Best/Worst Even I've ever been to
- It was great getting deeper involved in my culture
- Also Great to realise that my Nigerian Side of the Family are the best when we're all pissed
- The only way I got through this day was because of the amazing zine I knew it would make.

| Its going to be developed into a 4 comic panel per page zine that dictates different point in time throughout that day. |

| The Rape of Lucrece |
Becoming more focused on 2 standout pieces from my book which where the rape of lucrece and Iago 'I am not what I seem' character drawings
![]() |
| Iago Character Initial Ideas |
Taking them and creating monsters or abstract scenarios out of the darker parts of shakespeare writing allowing for room for the viewer to not be explicitly shown what is happening but implicating with motifs and imagery.
![]() |
| The Rape of Lucrece - Aftermath |
It also forces me to look at more abstract and metaphorical scenarios that depict poignant and prolific events without the being cliche.
![]() |
| Laura Carlin |
Looking at the work of Laura Carlin maybe a good start in the more abstract construction of concepts.
Also with the idea of creating more abstract characters such as iago not just being a cracked mask or something very cliche when thinking about monsters and evil looking an artist and concept designs that redefine and remold the view of monsters like Guillermo Del Toro.
