Unfortunately at first I began to research smallpox found out the first recorded case was in Egypt and really just drew an egyptian pharaoh with Syphilis which isn't what i aim to go for.
Refocusing myself on Cholera I took its traits and symptoms, exaggerating them into a character.
The sketching side of things went well however final linings become lack luster and lost some of the characteristics. I've decided to linocut this image in its final form, using rougher and more expressive lino cutting techniques to keep the expressive lines and feel of my final sketch.

On reflection of this image and a discussion with Ben about how the origins of cholera came from a isolated indian village in 5th century and how that's what I began to base the character disign on I was questioned on how i could yous slight symbolism or iconography within the image to hit towards india. So I've added a bolded line which mimics the root of the ganges river. By doing this however I then change the context of the image. It becomes More editorial and starts to discus the sacredness of cleaning yourself in the rivers of india and how that can be linked to the constant presence of cholera there. This then becomes an editorial piece that could be put into a historical or medical magazine.
As a result of this I have decided to focus on an editorial series instead of the character designs as I believe that I can come up with a better brief concept for because I want to do character boards instead of just one image per character as I am known to do and what i have begun to do with this brief.
