For one of the designs I want to use a Historic monument of leeds as the main focal point, mixing the history of the city with the sounds of it. showing visually how both affect one another. I looked at clocks because when going through leeds the sound of a clock bonging the hour is something that is symbolic to me of a city and I think that in all cities this is a good way of indicating a passage of time. I'm more inclined towards the marks and spencers one due to it's Historical and cultural symbolism, Also M&S is very well known throughout the UK however it's not as well known that it was started in Leeds. The clock also rediseds in Leeds Market, one of europe's largest indoor markets which if full of sound of market stalls, the buses going by, birds going in and out, people talking. In away the Market has it's own soundscape, compared to that of the centre or outskirts of leeds, and I feel it would be an interesting and enlightening endeavor to have the context of one poster focus on the sounds of the city but specifically the sounds of a specific and to the locals well known part of the city. To those who don't know that part of leeds it will become educational but for those who know it it will be an exciting representation of leeds historic past.
