The theme I chose to go with for this was haute couture because I thought it would force me to draw a full human figure instead of just the face. It was a bit challenging getting the clothes to fit the form but it did force me to translate pictures of people into characters with my own tone of voice so that they didn't look copied directly from reference.
This exercise also showed me how I turn things into character design to make sense of them. For me to feel and get into an image I end up creating backstories and personalities for the characters. I would say that I could have been a lot less sketchy in my book and refined some things but I also need to not feel that every little bit needs to be perfect and complete and could just be a half finished sketch.
