OUIL403 Self-Evaluation

How effectively do you think you have tackled the first part of this brief?

  • I spent too much time on researching instead of idea generating and drawing.
  • My beginning scamps where too scrappy and didn't  effectively portray my ideas however I later improved on my visual communication towards the end of the first part.

Have you been able to exhaust your ideas?

  • I have made attempts to exhaust all my Ideas however as I said before I spent a bit too much time on my research and not enough on development of ideas.
How well have you used research to support the development of your idea?
  • Research has been the focus of my ideas in allowing me to test them further; finding out personality types to characterise my images made.
  • It allowed me to learn at more unusual facts based on my theme show I could shift the way the idea was going.

Has drawing allowed you to visualise your ideas and evolve them further?

  • Absolutely, it allows me to see if an idea is going to work and if it is how it should be drawn and presented.
  • I allows me to think about the feasibility of an idea. for example if I am spending 1 hour per drawing it may not be the most effective way of drawing.
  • It allows me to see how to get the most visually effective image without having to continuously redo the final poster.

In light of your feedback, what theme/ideas do you intend to develop into a final deliverable poster?

  • A-Z of places to drink wine. As it was one that related directly to me and allowed for more freedom of placement and expression than some of the other themes/ideas did.
  • I will be looking at a series of places, most likely classy/ sophisticated to everyday places I will probably end up drinking wine.
  • The idea of me starting off standing at full hight drinking in a elegant way at an Art gallery in the beginning but at the end being slumped/passed in a Zoo enclosure at the end.
  • It allows me to explore places I potentially will visit in the future while doing having a drink.
  • The tone of voice should indicate both humour and the underling message of how alcohol can deteriorate how you present yourself.

What are the next steps required in development and refinement of your poster?

  • I need to look at how I am going to show a gradual deterioration of myself during each scene.
  • Draw out alternate scenarios for letters and look at composition
  • Look at if i want the line work and drawing to reflect the gradual intoxication.
  • Maybe work with brush pen cause it allows a lucidity and consistency to it's line work.
