OUIL404 Colour, Value & Notan

For this task we had to combine all we'd learnt along side our new knowledge from out colour theory lectures to create a two coloured screen print off "Something good". 

• I decided to stick to my urban monsters theme however I wanted to incorporate something I personally find good as well as something that relates to my theme. This lead me to depict a mother doing her childs hair.
• This kind of scene is something that is both intimate and shows motherly affection. I wanted to depict something found in a lot of african families( especially african- american families)
• Parents tend to give tough love when it comes to afro hair as its really difficult to brush, they seem ruthless btu actually are making sure that you maintain and look after your hair.

• I really focused on line of sight in this piece as I mentioned in my last work as it was important to me to prove to myself that I had some knowledge of line of sight. 

• Screen printing went wonderfully and has got me thinking of using screen printing in more of my work. 
• Using two tones of blue really worked out well for me in this piece as it creates a harmonious balance within the image. 
• I think that I may need to work with printing a lot more as I'm finding both this and monoprint to result in some of my stronger pieces of work.
